This is too cute: VLC Media Player has a little seasonal easter egg...

The cone icon gets a Santa hat! Sweeeeeeeet!
And I guess that makes this a Christmas post. Have a good one, folks. :)

I know some of you are new to these parts and weren't around chez moose for Christmas last year, so here's your annual headsup folks - Santa Tracking is underway :D Yep, NORAD's tracking Santa again - for any kids around, or just big kids like me :)
Clue. David Mitchell. One Song to The Tune Of Another. Lyrics: A Whiter Shade of Pale. Music: The Muppet Show Theme Tune. Moose: on the floor.
:D
:D
So, today we have mostly been baking. To add to the two Christmas cakes and three ginger loaves we made two days ago (one of the ginger loaves has since mysteriously disappeared...) we made three more of the latter (it's all going to be gifts for people), 60 lebkuchen and 30 experimental apple, raisin, and cinnamon snickerdoodles (which we WILL be making more of. YUM.).
So yeah. Good day in the kitchen with dad. :)

- Feeling:
calm - Listening to:Take That - How Did It Come To This? (live)
I have spent the evening watching The Circus Live DVD, and now I am a happy bouncy little puddle of Moose :D The Arse Groping! The Clowns! The Cat Girls! THE GIANT MECHANICAL ELEPHANT!
*HAPPY*
*HAPPY*
OH FUCK I LOVE THE INTERNET - BBC NI DIDN'T SHOW JOHN BARROWMAN IN HIS BOXERS!
I think that might be the biggest (and most true) build-up anyone has ever given Sooty :D Also nice to see Barry and Stuart pulling Suicide in C Sharp out of the bag again...
Still upright :)
Granddad arrived from England today - we went to the harbour to pick him up. He's staying 'til Monday. Also picked up Mum's ashes today from the undertaker's. She wanted them buried next to her parents (Gran and Granda H.) so that's happening on Saturday morning. I suppose at least then the whole drawn out thing gets a bit of an ending.
Also, in deeply shallow but related news, I have come into possession of Mum's Nintendo DS, and have been familiarising myself with it. It comes with several games including Scrabble, Brain Training, Scribblenauts and, for some reason, Sonic the Hedgehog. (Personally I think she was just reliving the feeling of thrashing the 11-year-old me at it on the Sega Master System *g*) I am now contemplating the staggering array of games out there for it. Anyone know any good ones?
Yeah, I know, that bit was shallow... it's weird, I'm still at the point where I feel guilty for thinking about stuff like that. I dunno, I'm just still feeling my way I guess. Bear with me guys, eh?

Hey everybody. Thank you for all the kind thoughts - I've kinda been blown backwards by all the support I've got (online and offline and offline from online people... if that makes sense!). Dad wants to say thank you too - he says he feels 'like an honorary member of the interwebs'.
So, the funeral yesterday, after possibly the longest wake in history (there is one crematorium in NI, so we just had to wait). We played mum's favourite song in the crematorium afterwards and it made a lot of people smile, so that was actually really nice. We're not traditional, but it worked, it was mum :)
I guess that makes today day one, after everyone's gone and we're just here getting on with things. It's not been too bad today, but I'm not under any illusions - I know things could be shit for a while. But we discovered today that we can still laugh, so that's cool. My uncle came over today with some pictures of mum when she was young too, and left us copies - one of them is her when she was about... I dunno 15 or so, so late 1950s. In her convent school uniform looking awkward and teenage and brilliant... I've never seen photos of her that young before, it was weird, but cool.
So... yeah. Thank you guys, each and every one of you - you've been awesome. And... well... I dunno, I'm just winging it, but I guess I'm back :)

I know it probably seems awful, mobile posting at a time like this, but you guys have been my strength and in an odd way I thought I should tell you too.
We lost mum at 4.30am. She was 65, the second youngest of 9, married to my dad for 30 years and my sarcastic, wonderful, maddning annoying loving generous mum, who only passed her driving test three months ago and thought she was the stig. I love her.

CONGRATULATIONS AND MASSIVE HUGS TO THE TWO BEST BELGIANS IN THE WORLD:
jamaisneutral and
weetniet. I'm sorry I can't be there, and I hope you have the shiniest most wonderful day possible. *squishes you both*
I often find myself wanting to applaud Charlie Brooker. Right now I want a fucking parade in his honour. He's performed a brilliant slice and dice on that horrid, horrid article that's been linked around about Stephen Gately (some horrendous woman in the Daily Fail, I'm not linking to the original article, it's out there, you can find it). Charlie, I salute you. Evil Woman, go boil your head. That is all.
- Feeling:
bitchy
I am having an insomnia-driven bout of listening to The Unbelievable Truth on iPlayer and I think Reginald D. Hunter just slashed himself with David Mitchell... (Adam Hills is a guest on something and isn't the first to the slash?! Is the world caving in?!)
Happy Birthday
sacred_sarcasm! *gives you a Derren on a bed of nails*
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
THINKPINK20! Hope it's a shiny one :)
If any of you nice (and by 'nice', I clearly mean 'as obsessed as I am') people were to have such a thing on your phone as a top gear theme ringtone, could you tell me where you got it? I got a new phone for my birthday from mum and dad and I'm clearly going to need a ringtone I will recognise as mine *g* (I used to have the Muppet Show theme on my old one, but I can't find a decent version online anywhere and the one crap version I could find was £4.50!) Thanks in advance!
Watched Mr Brown to distract myself... I feel cheated! I didn't stick! (Maybe it's because I'm too short for my feet to touch the ground in the chair I was in? ...shut up :P)
